Marangu route is one of those routes you use to get to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Marangu route is the easiest route to the get to the summit; it offers tourists with comfortable sleeping-huts and beds at every camp -running water are available at some camps. Day1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro international airport.
Our guide shall be waiting for you at the airport. Get ready for a warm-welcoming experience with our jolly and highly professional guide. On meeting, you shall be transferred to Mountain Inn for overnight, dinner, and breakfast.
Day2: Kilimanjaro National park gate to Mandara hut. Hiking time:4-5 hours, Distance: About 7km
You shall have breakfast in the morning; and after breakfast and briefing from our guide, you shall be transferred to the Marangu gate on the eastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro where you shall register and commence the climb. In the rainforest, you shall look for towering Eucalyptus trees, bird life, and colobus monkeys. Trekking poles are sometimes necessary as the conditions are sometimes muddy in the rainforest. At about 3pm, you shall arrive at Mandara Hut for your accommodation. Dinner shall be served at around 7pm and running water is available.
Day3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut, Hiking time:6-8 hours, Distance: About 11km.
Early in the morning at about 8:30am, you will leave the glades of the rainforest and follow an ascending path on the open moorlands. The shrubs are the main vegetation and you can look for giant lobelias and groundsels. You will stop halfway through the journey to relax and have lunch and you shall have amazing views of mazembe. You shall arrive at Horombo Hut where you shall have a view of Kibo’s summit. You will start to feel the effects of the altitude. At Horombo Hut, you shall be able to relax, and prepare for dinner.
Day4: Horombo Hut to Kibo hut, Hiking time:6-8 hours,Distance:About 10km
Early in the morning, you shall take breakfast as usual and start your day hike. You shall move through the heathland that blend into a moonscape as you enter the saddle connecting Mawenzi and Kibo. You will stop for lunch and later cross the saddle where you start to examine the summit. The altitude at this point is high. You can seek help in case you notice any signs of altitude sickness. Later on, you shall stay at Kibo huts- there is no running water
Day5: kibo hut to the summit and then Horombo Hut, Distance: About 4km up and 14km down, time:10-15 hours
Before you begin your summit, make sure you have headlamps or flashlights and be sure to have warm clothes.
Early in the morning,between midnight to 2am, you shall start to climb to the summit. The ultimate goal is to climb during the night such that you reach at the summit after sunrise. You will commence on steep scree or snow to reach the Gilman’s point which is located on the crater rim at 5,861 m. Another 2 hours hike along the crater rim shall take you to the summit, the Uhuru peak. You shall spend some time at the peak, taking photos and making all the joyous celebrations of accomplishing something however don’t stay for long as you might be fatigued. At the peak, you shall descend to kibo huts for relaxation and lunch before continuing to Horombo huts. At Horombo huts, you shall get the much need rest and dinner.
Day6: Horombo Huts to Moshi.
Early in the morning after breakfast, you shall start descending through the moorland to the Mandara Huts where you shall have lunch. You shall then continue to descend through the rain forest to the Marangu national park gate. Say goodbye to all the guides,porters and cook and drive to Moshi at springlands hotel. This shall mark the end of an incredible journey with regional tours and travel.
